Job: Postdoctoral Fellow-Kostova Lab

Department: EMB – Embryology

Salary: TBD

Location: Baltimore, MD

Overview: A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kamena Kostova ( at the Carnegie Institution for Science, Department of Embryology in Baltimore, MD. We are investigating the fundamental question of how cells respond when their ribosomes break down. The ribosome is one the most complex and long-lived molecular machines in the cell and the presence of functional ribosomes is essential to live. Ribosome damage has been recently linked to complex human diseases, such as cancer and neurodegeneration. We use cutting-edge technology, such as CRISPR-Cas9-mediated genome editing and genome scale screens, to model and map the molecular pathways that ensure ribosome integrity in mammalian cell lines and zebrafish.

Qualifications: An ideal candidate will be creative, industrious, have excellent communication skills, and enjoy working independently as well as collaboratively. A Ph.D. in a related field and fluency in spoken and written English is required for the position.

To apply: Please send a curriculum vitae, statement of research interest, and contact information for three references to
